Book cover of The Three of Us
The story of the near life-long relationship between Alexander Count von Hochberg, second son of Daisy of Pless, and her cousin Edwina FitzPatrick, the English expatriate who spent part of her life in Germany, at times as Daisy Pless' companion. Although at times separated by fate or political events, Lexel (Alexander) and Ena (Edwina) maintained their close relationship and witnessed many of the changes that shook Europe between 1914 and 1945. The third in this group was Ena's close friend Margrit, a Swiss woman, daughter of Europe's first plastic surgeon.

The book never received the final form planned by its author James Ludovici. Another editing and reprint of its first edition (done in Sri Lanka) in England did not come about because of James Ludovici's death.

Nevertheless, those who are interested in the history and the fate of Daisy of Pless and her family will find this smaller volume highly informative and attractive.
